Therapy That Actually Works in Real Life.

If you’re looking for therapy in San Antonio, chances are something feels heavy right now.

Therapy That’s Real, Practical, and Supportive

Maybe anxiety won’t let up. Maybe your relationship is strained. Maybe your teen is struggling. Maybe you just walked through a crisis and you’re trying to hold it together.

Therapy That Works in Real Life

At San Antonio Authentic Counseling, we provide grounded, evidence-based therapy that actually works in real life.

Real conversations, real strategy, and real support.

We are currently accepting new clients, and in many cases appointments are available within a days.

We Meet You Where You Are - Not Where You “Should” Be

People don’t reach out for therapy when everything is calm and organized. They call when things are messy. We’ve worked with clients days after hospital discharge. Parents trying to help a child in crisis. Couples who don’t even know how to explain what’s wrong. Adults who are exhausted from pretending they’re fine. You don’t need perfect paperwork. You don’t need the right words. You don’t need to have it all figured out. We start where you are. Therapy here is collaborative. We build a plan together. If something isn’t realistic in your life, we adjust it. We don’t assign homework just to check a box. We focus on tools you can actually use outside the office - when you’re stressed, overwhelmed, or in the middle of real-world conflict. Because what matters is not how therapy feels in a quiet room. What matters is whether it works when life isn’t quiet.

A Safe Space Without Judgment or Agenda

Many clients tell us they were nervous to call. They felt embarrassed. Ashamed. Afraid of being judged.

That’s not what you’ll find here.

Our practice is built on authenticity. That means:

No shame.

No pretending.

No pressure to perform.

No political or social agenda.

We work with people from all walks of life - across backgrounds, beliefs, professions, and identities. You don’t have to agree with us politically. You don’t have to fit into a specific box. You just have to show up willing to talk.

And yes, everything you share is confidential within professional guidelines. Your story stays protected.

Trauma-Informed Care for Individuals, Couples & Families

We provide therapy for:

Trauma and PTSD

Anxiety and depression

Grief and loss

Couples and relationship challenges

Family dynamics

Teen and adolescent concerns

Life transitions and high-stress seasons

If you’re looking for practical, research-backed therapy, delivered in a relatable and grounded way, you’re in the right place.

Professional, Structured, and Human

Our clinicians are licensed, experienced, and grounded in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR.

But sessions don’t feel like lectures.

They feel like honest conversations backed by clinical expertise.

You’ll know what you’re working on. You’ll know what the plan is. You won’t leave wondering what just happened. We believe therapy should provide clarity, direction, and measurable progress (not confusion).

Military Members, Veterans & Families Welcome

San Antonio is home to a strong military community, and we are proud to serve active duty service members, veterans, and their families.

We understand structure. We understand trauma exposure. We understand reintegration, identity shifts, and family strain that can come with service.

Whether you’re near Lackland AFB, Randolph AFB, Fort Sam Houston, or elsewhere in Texas, we offer both in-person sessions in San Antonio and secure virtual therapy across the state.

Practical Support for Real-Life Responsibilities

Life doesn’t pause just because you start therapy.

When clinically appropriate, we provide documentation such as FMLA paperwork, excused absences for school or work, and other necessary forms. We handle these case by case,  responsibly and professionally.

We also understand that not everyone wants to make a phone call. Many clients prefer to text to schedule or ask questions. We offer that option because reducing barriers matters.

Insurance & Accessibility

We accept many major insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare, Cigna, Humana, and more.

If you’re unsure about your coverage, our team will verify your benefits and explain your options clearly. We believe you should understand the cost before your first session, not after.

Virtual therapy is available throughout Texas, making care accessible even if you’re outside the immediate San Antonio area.
